Driving
ID #1036
Are there any road rules I should know about that may not be obvious?
An experienced driver from another country should be able to figure out what to do in most situations by calling on their driving knowledge from their home country and exercising good judgement and common sense. However, there are a few regulations which may not be obvious unless you happen to know about them. For example:
- From October through February headlights must be switched on at all times while driving.
- Mobile phones may only be used by the driver of a moving vehicle if a hands-free unit is employed.
- The use of radar detectors is prohibited.
- Children under the age of 10 may not occupy the front passenger seat.
- With a few specific exceptions, all passengers in the vehicle must wear safety belts.
- Foreign drivers found guilty of traffic violations are reported to the appropriate Authorities in the driver's home nation.
